Description

Folios 363-364: Samuel Osborn, London. Reporting his arrival on board the Rockingham Indiaman rather than HMS Dorchrecht following the enclosed order from Admiral Thomas Pringle.

Folios 365-366: enclosure with folios 363-364. Letter dated 19 August 1797 from Thomas Pringle, Cape of Good Hope to Samuel Osborn, HMS Vindictive. Osborn has been declared unable to perform his duty as captain of HMS Vindictive from a survey made on him by Captains Edwards, Leach and Bayles of HMS Sceptre, Jupiter and Raisonable and surgeons. He was declared unfit to serve in the Cape of Good Hope. He is ordered to proceed to England in HMS Dordrecht.
