Captured ship: Speedwell (master John Keating).
History: an English merchant ship (hoy) bound from Middelburg to Bristol, laden with iron pots, madder, blacking, and deal boards; first taken on 17/27 July 1692 between Milford Haven and Waterford by the Irish Jacobite privateer Providence (Patrick Lambert commanding) and then retaken on 21/31 July 1692 off Lands End by Henry Jones, Vice Admiral of North Cornwall, using two fishing boats manned by his bother and eighteen men, and brought into Penzance.
