Folios 511-512: James Keith Shepard, Regulating Officer, Gravesend. Acknowledges receipt of enclosed petition and certificate and states the case of Thomas Gale, aged 21, on board HMS Barham who was brought to the Rendezvous as a volunteer on 11 May 1812 by James Martin to whom the usual reward was paid.
Folios 513-514: enclosure with folios 511-512. Letter dated 26 August 1812 by Thomas Gale, Upper Mall, Hammersmith to John Barrow, Deputy Secretary at the Admiralty. Encloses certificate from Lieutenant Colonel Sir Charles Malet regarding Thomas Gale, his nephew, a bricklayer and Local Militiaman. Claims that Thomas Gale was impressed in London in May 1812 and sent first to HMS Corso and then to HMS Barham. Requests his immediate release.
Folio 515: enclosure with folios 513-514. Certificate dated 5 July 1812 signed by Sir Charles Malet, Lieutenant Colonel, 1st Wiltshire Local Militia and Henry [Asher?], Captain Adjutant, 1st Wiltshire Local Militia, Wilbury House, Amesbury. Certifies that Thomas Gale of the Parish of Burbage was enrolled as a Private solder in the 1st Wiltshire Local Militia on 20 April 1809 to serve four year.
