Description

Folios 463-464: Andrew Smith, Regulating Officer, Greeenock. Reports the arrival that morning of the Mary of Workington which was taken by the Yankee Schooner, Oliver Wilson, Master on 27 July 1812 along with the Harmony, William Gammil, Master and the [?-Clover] en route from Gibraltar to Quebec as well as the Alfred of Tynmouth, Mr Freeman , Master on 29 July 1812. The Mary was given up to the crew as a consequence of having too many prisoners. Reports that the Master of the Schooner has said that upwards of one hundred commissions has been issued to privateers before he sailed.

Folio 465: enclosure with folios 463-464. [Attached] Oliver Wilson, Commander of the Yankee, an American Private Armed ship, at sea, 29 July 1812. Certifies that he has captured the English Brig Harmony, William Gammil, Captain and sent him into the United States of America as a [?].

Folio 468: enclosure with folios 466-467. Account of number of men procured by Andrew Smith, Regulating Officer, Greenock between 13 August and 20 August 1812, and the number of men procured by or sent or brought to him from 1 January 1812 and how they have been disposed of.
