Folios 354-355: James Slade, Regulating Officer, HMS Experiment, Falmouth. States the case of George Hunt, impressed in a public house on the evening of 23 July 1812 by Lieutenant Christopher Kortwright and who was not carrying a Protection or any other document to exempt him from the Impress. Hunt claimed to have entered Falmouth on HM Packet Adventure but a Protection for HM Packet Fox has since been brought to the Rendezvous. Says Dean's statement of being much intoxicated at the time is not correct. Also observes that Mr Christopher Saverland, the Agent for Packets considers it essential to good order that Packet Seamen should be compelled to carry their Protection at all times and that it is not his wish that Hunt should be given up.
Folios 356-357: enclosure with folios 354-355. Petition of George Hunt, Packet Seaman, Falmouth, dated 29 July 1812 to the Admiralty. Petitions for his release claiming that he did have his Protection for HM Packet Fox on him, in his fob under his watch, at the time of his impressment but he was too drunk to remember where it was. Countersigned with a brief statement by John Tilly, Commander of HMS Packet Fox.
