Folios 325-326: Andrew Smith, Regulating Officer, Greenock. States the case of Robert McFarlen, aged 35 who was impressed as a seaman on board a vessel and has been working in herring fishing for six or seven years and is rated as a Landsman Seafaring. Reports that McFarlen is in perfect health but is not a very desirable man for service.
Folios 327-328: enclosure with folios 325-326. Letter dated 22 July 1812 by Catherine McDougall, c/o Daniel McTaggart, Scott's Land, Bell Entry, Greenock to the Admiralty. Petitioning for the release of her son Robert McFarlen who is a Taylor to the trade and is in poor health and has a weak constitution. Explains that Robert McFarlen has been sailing two or three times from Greenock to Glasgow for coal to improve his strength and that is how he came to be impressed on 6 July 1812.
