Folios 212-213: James Slade, HMS Experiment, Falmouth. Responding to a request for his observations on a printed anonymous letter from Falmouth stating he has been involved in a smuggling transaction. Explains that he took on board HMS Experiment a hogshead of wine from Malta, half of which was shared with the crew and the remainder stored onboard or consumed on the King's birthday. States no duty was paid as it was not taken on shore and believes he has not done anything illegal.
