Folios 78-79: James Spicer, Swansea. Reports that in response to the Admiralty's authorisation of 15 May 1812, he has employed the Ant, a sloop of thirty tons at the rate of one pound per ton per month, to help impress men from ports in the Swansea area. Explains he has appointed one Midshipman and six men and is paying them the same rate as those employed in the Impress Service but requests they receive extra subsistence pay as they will have a more active service away from Swansea. Asks whether he has sufficient authority to empower the Midshipman to impress men.
