Folios 34-35: Richard Spear, HMS Chanticleer, Yarmouth Roads. Explains his reasons for approving the application of Lieutenant Edward Medley to be superseded and encloses a letter from Lieutenant Medley to the Admiralty. Also mentions William [Story?], Lieutenant Medley's father in law, a Pilot, who has been killed accidentally while onboard a Kingeship at Sheerness.
Folios 36-37: enclosure with folios 34-35. Letter dated 30 May 1812 by Edward Medley, Lieutenant, HMS Chanticleer, Yarmouth Roads. Explains the reason for his request to be superseded is the recent death of his father-in-law which has resulted in family disputes that require his personal attention.
