Folio 13: Peter Spicer, Swansea. States the case of John Harris, aged 28, impressed by Captain John Turner of HMS Ann at Bridgwater on 14 May 1812 whose statement he encloses and reports, that despite the irregularity of the vessel's register form, he has not received any application for John Harris to be discharged.
Folios 14-15: enclosure with folio 13. Christian Harris, Bridgwater, 25 May 1812. Petitions for the discharge of her husband John Harris, who has been Chief Mate of the Prudence of Bridgwater for five years and therefore protected from the Impress. Explains the irregularity in the ship's register papers which has resulted in John Harris being impressed. Letter is countersigned by Alderman William Anstice, George Dosson; William Taylor, John Haviland, Charles Rotworthy and S Callen.
Folios 16-17: enclosure with folio 13. Letter dated 30 May 1812 by John Turner, HMS Ann, Swansea. States the case of John Harris, aged 28, impressed in Bridgwater River on 14 May and encloses an Affidavit of 6 June 1807 which he believes proves John Harris is legally impressed, and notes that Harris has also admitted that he had been on shore for over a month and therefore must have been replaced as Mate and lastly that as Harris can neither read nor write he cannot have been in charge of all goods and merchandise as claimed.
Folios 18-19: enclosure with folios 16-17. Letter dated 6 June 1807 by William Richards, Master of the Prudence, Bridgwater. Affidavit sworn before Charles Henry Burt, Clerk to Justice of the Peace for Bridgwater, that John Harris is Chief Mate of the Prudence and has charge of all goods an merchandise received on board and does not belong to any Royal Navy Ships of War.
