Folios 1-2: James Keith Shepard, Regulating Officer, Gravesend. He had no documents on him at the time of impressment but matches the description with the enclosures sent by the Admiralty which also indicate that he is an Apprentice.
Folio 3: enclosure with folios 1-2. Letter dated 27 May 1812 by Francis Wayth, Master of the Cynthia, 2 Jamaica Row, Bermondsey, to the Admiralty. Explains that Joseph Avis is his apprentice and was detained whilst on his way to Benhall in Suffolk to see friends.
