Folios 239-240: James Slade, HMS Experiment, Falmouth. the letter refers to an impressed man Alexander Loben who was taken from the packet boat HMP The Walsingham. Lieutenant Korbright claims that boarded HMP The Walsingham and found the entire crew, save for one or two officers drunk. The Boatswain and Alexander Loben tried to stir up the crew. Captain Bullock of the vessel arrived and orderd Loben and the Boatswain to be impressed. This was done. However, the next morning Captain Bullock appled for the discharge of the two men but after discussing the matter with Mr Saverland the Agent for the Pakets it was agreed that their release be refused.
Folios 241-242: enclosure with folios 239-240. Letter dated 30 April 1812 by Captain Bullock, HMP Walsingham, Falmouth. He records that his ship was boarded because an attempt was being made to impress the ship's boy Richard Lean on the grounds that he was a deserter. However the boy was on shore. The crew was called to muster and the Lieutenant in charge of the impress annoyed at having missed the boy took two petty officers instead. Subsequently the Boatswain was returned but not the Carpenter. He requests his release.
