Folios 242-243: William Smith, HMS Derwent, Spithead. Reporting that Mr Brownley Purser of HMS Derwent being appointed to HMS Success and Mr Bedus the person appointed to supercede him not having yet joined. HMS Derwent tho otherwise ready for sea , is detained in Spithead. Request the appointment of Mr Thomas Shanks Purser of HMS Ariel be appointed to HMS Derwent who can join at a moments notice.
