Folios 112-113: James Keith Shepard, Regulating Captain, Gravesend. Asked to give details of William Hatch, now on board the El Corso, impressed 3 October by Lt Jordan, having been found stowed away on the Caesar. Said to have been at sea for two years, 5' 3 1/2", about 18 years old. Claimed to have fits, and to be exempt from service. Admiralty note on rear says discharge not granted.
Folios 114-117: Letters from William Shearly, Surgeon, at Lower Deal, dated 8 October 1811. Shearly says the boy was epileptic and was unconscious the first time he was called to see him. The fits were so frequent that he advised the parents to prevent him from following the sea as an occupation, as he would not be able to ascend the rigging with safety. Second letter dated 9 October, is a covering letter for the first - sanctioned by Rear Admiral Foley, C-in-C in the Downs.
