Registry Number: CCG 180/30808. <p>Order under proclamation No 2 requiring all restitutable property to be reported: vol III.</p> <p>Correspondence between the RDR and Public Safety branches of Land North Rhine Westphalia, the Czech RDR Mission and the headquarters of the RDR Division in Detmold reporting instances in which German citizens failed to report property under General Order No 6, as in the case of Alfred Schubert's failure to declare Czechoslovak machine tools, Public Safety reports on the matter and copies of Schubert's statement, dated June 1948-March 1949; also as in the case of Martin Neulen's failure to declare Belgian property [not specified] and a Skoda motor and the order that he pay a fine of DM 250, dated September-October 1948. No reference to cultural property. <p>Correspondence between the RDR Division and the headquarters of the Land North Rhine Westphalia with regard to prosecution for the 'non-declaration' of property under General Order No 6, amounting to 150 cases in North Rhine Westphalia alone; and the expenses encountered for the insertion in the German press of notices concerning General Order No 6 and its incorrect translation in <emph render=""italic"">Die Welt</emph> and the <emph render=""italic"">Hamburger Allgemeine</emph>, which 'gave the impression that the Germans were required only to report the property which was removed by the Armed Forces', with excerpts [in German] from both newspapers, dated April-August 1948. Includes correspondence relating to the prosecution of German firms for the non-declaration of machines and machine tools, resulting from investigations carried out by the French Restitution team, and to the question of whether foreign securities acquired by banks in the normal way of business should be declared under General Order No 6, dated May-July 1948. <p>Further correspondence relates to the declaration by the firm Zinnwerke Wilhelmsburg of Italian metal, dated June-July 1948, and the declarations by Hamburg wine dealers and by the Jute and Flax Association of Hamburg, dated April-May 1948. No reference to cultural property. <p>Correspondence relating to the issue of the declaration of pharmaceutical drugs to be released for the benefit of the German population, of material held by the German railways and of property belonging to the Baltic States, whose annexation by the USSR had not been recognised by the UK at that point, dated April 1948. <p>Correspondence between the RDR branch of the Land Schleswig-Holstein and of the Military Government, the headquarters of the RDR Division in Detmold and the Bureau of Information in Berlin relating to the re-issuing of General Order No 6 with a timetable for its re-issuing, details of the posters and forms distributed in Schleswig-Holstein with excerpts from radio broadcasts and information on the cooperation by the German authorities, dated March-April 1948. Includes a letter to the Bureau of Information from the RDR Division advising against the amendments to the Bureau of Information Bulletin proposed by the MFA and A Section and suggesting that fine arts 'objects are invariably restituted even though their removal was the result of a normal commercial transaction'. Also includes correspondence discussing the issue of restitution on broader terms, dated March 1948. No reference to cultural property.</p>
