Description

Folios 71-78. Letter from the Right Honourable Lord Viscount Weymouth to 1st Earl Harcourt referring to the latter's letter of 5 February 1776, and advising that the King considers it too dangerous to lower the size of recruits but approves the issuing of a pardon for deserters turning themselves in before a specified date. Dated at St James's. Enclosed: Folios 73-74: Letter from Lord Barrington to Weymouth enclosing a copy of the King's offer of pardon to deserters of the Land Forces surrendering before 10 April 1776, together with a copy of a circular written by Lord Barrington on this matter to the colonels of the regiments of the British [Military] Establishment. Folios 75-76: A copy of the King's offer of pardon to deserters of the Land Forces surrendering before 10 April 1776. Dated at the War Office, 22 February 1776. Folios 77-78: A copy of a circular written by Lord Barrington on this matter to the colonels of the regiments of the British Establishment. Dated at the War Office, 22 February 1776.
