Description

Folios 35-36. Letter from the Right Honourable Lord Viscount Weymouth to 1st Earl Harcourt referring to the latter's letters of 31 January and 3 February 1776 with lists of succession of the army in Ireland advising that: Lieutenant Colonel Forbes of 11th Foot is permitted to dispose of his commission, but the succession contained in that list is postponed as that regiment is now ordered to remain in Ireland; recommendations in the list of 3 February approved except for those in the 11th Foot which are suspended as Lieutenant Patrick Hely of that regiment desires to purchase. Further communicates the King's permission for Major Charles Boissagon, Captain in the 53rd Foot, to dispose of his commission and for Lieutenant Robert Longfield of 19th Foot to captain the 53rd Foot. Dated at St James's.
