NOTES: surnames of patentees arranged alphabetically (each year separately); the pencil numbers against some of the entries refer to the printed index by Bennet Woodcroft (see introductory note); under the date in the penultimate column is a reference to the number of the roll on which the enrolment will be found, and these have to be keyed up with the class list for C 54; C 275/211 compiled c 1853
