Folios 237-238: Michael Seymour, HMS Amethyst, Portsmouth. Reports that John Purchase, now age 49, Sailmaker of HMS Amethyst, has received an injury to his left eye, and is entitled to a small ticket, if not to be a Pensioner at Greenwich Hospital. He is a man of good character. Asks that he is examined, and that Captain Seymour is informed when the man should proceed to town for the examination. Gives a detailed summary of his service since first joining HMS Hind in 1774, with dates, ships, places served, etc.
