Place of accident: Victoria Dock Branch, Yorkshire.
Injury: Fatal
Details of accident: He was in the employ of W. Ashton Bricklayers who have a yard on the side of the line. Smailes was in the act of crossing the line when he was knocked down. The driver had sounded his whistle. The whole of the train passed over him
