Refers to the enclosed order written to Captain Joseph Edmonds of HMS Espoir after letters received from Governor Robert Patton urging him to send a vessel to cruise round the island to ascertain whether the Rochfort Squadron was present and intending to interrupt the homeward bound East Indiamen.
