Folios 268-269: John Seater, HMS Mediator, St Helena.
Refers to the enclosed order written to Captain Joseph Edmonds of HMS Espoir after letters received from Governor Robert Patton urging him to send a vessel to cruise round the island to ascertain whether the Rochfort Squadron was present and intending to interrupt the homeward bound East Indiamen.
Folios 279-271: enclosure with folios 268-269. John Seater, HMS Mediator, 6 May 1805 orders Joseph Edmonds of HMS Espoir to put to sea immediately and gives detailed orders.
