Folios 266-267: John Seater, HMS Mediator, St Helena.
Reports that he arrived on 2 May 1805 together with the East India ship Warren Hastings under his convoy. Governor Robert Patton had received instructions from HMS Espoir meaning that he could not permit the Company's ships to avail themselves of protection. The possible arrival of Admiral Peter Rainier formed part of the decision making. He waited a further weeks in the hope of orders from England and the Admiral's arrival.
