Description

Folios 103-110. Letter from 1st Earl Harcourt (Lord Lieutenant of Ireland) to the Earl of Rochford, regarding enquiries made into the supposed murder of Anthony Gallagher of Arranmore in the County of Donegal by Peter McRory as set out in the deposition of Michael Gaven of the 58th Regiment now at Gibraltar; such enquiries have ascertained that no such event took place, and that the report of it is evidently a malicious scheme of revenge against the McRorys by Michael Gaven. Dated at Dublin Castle. Enclosed:Folios 105-108: Letter from Colonel William Burton to Thomas Waite reporting on his inquiries into the above matter.Folios 109-110: Letter from Dan[iel] Chambers to Colonel Burton reporting on his inquiries into Michael Gaven, dated 4 May 1775.
