Folios 92-93. Letter from the Earl of Rochford to 1st Earl Harcourt (Lord Lieutenant of Ireland), referring to the latter's letter of 1 May enclosing a list of successions proposed in the army, all of which have been approved by the King except for that for the Honourable John Rawdon of the 15th Regiment of Foot to be Major of Brigade in the place of Boyle Roche Esquire, the former having been an ensign only from the 13th of November 1773. A more experienced officer is requested to be found to purchase that commission (albeit the King generally disapproves that officers on the staff should buy and sell).
