Folios 77-80. Letter from 1st Earl Harcourt [Lord Lieutenant of Ireland] to the Right Honourable Lord Viscount Weymouth transmitting a list of successions proposed in the army in Ireland. Dated at Dublin Castle. Enclosed: Folios 79-80: List of successions in the army in Ireland humbly recommended to His Majesty; refers to: (i) 20th Foot: Captain John Stonehouse to dispose of his commission at the regulated price, with Lieutenant Robert Williams Winchester to purchase it and Ensign Clifton Wheat to replace him as Lieutenant; (ii) 53rd Foot: Major James McFarlane to dispose of his commission at the regulated price, with Alexander Earl of Belcarries (Captain in the 42nd Regiment) to be major, the captains of the 53rd Regiment, having declined the purchase. Dated at Dublin Castle, 9 December 1775.
