Description

Folios 29-34. Letter from 1st Earl Harcourt [Lord Lieutenant of Ireland] to the Right Honourable Lord Viscount Weymouth regarding the sending out of Ireland 4,000 of the troops then in Ireland and enclosing two addresses on the same matter. Dated at Dublin Castle. Enclosed: Folios 31-32: 'The Humble address of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal in Parliament Assembled'; expresses support for the King and gratitude that there will be no continuing charge on Ireland for those troops for so long as they remain outside of that Kingdom, and graciously declining his offer to replace such forces as may be sent out of Ireland by an equal number of foreign Protestant troops [i.e. Germans] the charge thereof to be defrayed without any expense to Ireland. Signed by William Watts Gayer and Edward Gayer. Folios 33-34: 'The Humble Address of the Knights Citizens and Burgesses in Parliament Assembled' expressing the same position and signed by E Stirling and [H?] Alcock.
