Folios 341-342: John Sykes, HMS Hecla, Downs. He reports that Lieutenant David Liddell [David Liddle] after long confinement from ill health on board HMS Hecla is now at the Naval Hospital Deal. Seeing no prospect of his early return he requests the appointment of a Lieutenant. He also states the seniority of Lieutenant Augustus Vere Drury the present Officer on board is 25 September 1799 and requests the appointed be Junior to him.
