Folios 277-278: John William Spranger, HMS Amethyst, Yarmouth Roads. Sending on a letter he has received from Captain Griffiths of HMS Constance, enclosing one from an officer of the Royal Marines serving under him who asks for 3 weeks' leave of absence. Folio 279: Enc with fos 277-278: Anselm John Griffiths, of HMS Constance, 11 June, sending on the request for leave and saying he feels quite convinced that the circumstances are genuine.
Folios 280-281: enclosure with folios 277-278. Request from M. J. Jennings, 11 June 1805, explaining that his father died recently, leaving him executor of a large estate. His mother is old and infirm and some points will need to be settled by law so his presence is absolutely necessary and he asks for 3 weeks' leave.
