Description

Folios 245-246: Sir Richard John Strachan Bart., HMS Donegal, off Cape St Maria. He will avail himself of HMS William Storeship passing on her way from Gibraltar to England to inform you of his leaving the Rendezvous leaving with the hope of falling in with any Treasure ships belonging to Spain & to intercept the L'Aigle should she sail from Cadiz. We expect she will, as she is ready, and a French Corvette with her. The Spanish Squadron have not made any active movements, the sickness at Cadiz is still very bad, at Gibraltar they are said to be getting better, but all the Transports are affected with the Disease, we have not had any intelligence from Lord Nelson since he left him, nor has anything material occurred since he last wrote by the [?] which ship he hopes by this time is arrival in England.

Folios 247-248: enclosure with folios 245-246. [Admiralty note] Sir Richard John Strachan be so Mr Marsden will ensure the accompany letter which Sir Richard John Strachan has written in great haste; not wishing to detain the William & time being several sail insight.
