Folios 233-234: Robert Stopford, HMS Spencer, Hamoaze. States that HMS Spencer is two Lieutenants short of her Complement. He request that two Lieutenants be appointed.
Folio 235: enclosure with folios 233-234. [Admiralty Note] In answer to Captain Stopford's letter acquaint him that Lieutenant Browne (2) & Lieutenant James Batt are appointed to HMS Spencer. Desire these Lieutenants to join immediately.
