Folios 225-226: John Stiles, HMS Alcmene, Spithead. He is concerned to be stating that during the time HMS Alcmene has been refitting in Portsmouth Harbour. The men named in the inclosed list of nineteen , have deserted from her. Notwithstanding every precaution of himself and Officers. I had placed twenty two men who he had reason to expect they would desert on HMS Royal William, he also states that since being in the Harbour Fourteen Men have entered the service.
