Folio 27: Philip Somerville, HMS Nemesis, Torbay. Reply to letter dated 1 November 1804, he states the case of John Long, he was found with others secreted in the hold of the Recovery South Sea Whaler on 10 June 1804 on her return to the Thames. The Statement of Mr Henshaw he thinks is not quite correct as the man declares that he served 17 months in a Transport before he went on board the Recovery which added to the 12 months the Recovery was on her voyage will exceed two years five months.
Folio 28: enclosure with folio 27. Letter dated 29 October 1804 by H Henshaw, No 222 Strand, to the Admiralty. Requests the discharge of John Long impressed from the Recovery. Requests he may be discharged on finding a substitute.
