Folios 273-274: John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, Greenock. He encloses a letter regarding the expiry of the contract with the East India Company for the hire of the armed ship, the Lord Forbers. He says that the Lord Forbes is in a good condition and has recently had her guns inspected.
Folios 275-276: enclosed with folios 273-274. Letter dated 9 April 1804 by Lutwidge Affleck, the Lord Forbes, Greenock. He informs John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, that as the contract for the hire of the Lord Forbes will expire on May 10, he will leave Greenock on April 26, unless the contract is extended. The Owners in Liverpool would be willing to accept an extension.
