Folios 269-270: John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, Greenock. He acknowledges the receipt of the the two reports of Mr. Bicknell, Solicitor, regarding the circumstances of his arrest on the application of the Water Baillie for Glasgow. The matter had been put before the Lord Judge Admiral who has suspended for a time the authority of the Water Baillie. He says that he now has has another Apprentice on board who has served his 5 years as a Carpenter and has volunteered for the Navy.
Folios 271-272: enclosed with folios 269-270. Letter dated 16 March 1804 by Alan Campbell, Greenock. He says that after examination he has found nothing to prevent the transfer John Pack to HMS Tourterelle. He suggests that John Simpson should send a party to escourt him to the ship.
