Folio 141: Thomas Searle, HMS Perseus, Little Nore. On receipt of their letter addressed to the late Captain Melhuish telling him Lieutenant Jenkins of HMS Dart was appointed to HMS Perseus, he sent on board to inform Lieutenant Sutherland of it. Afterwards he saw the Captain who said he did not wish to part with such a good young man and wrote a private letter to one of the Board to request that he might be allowed to stay on HMS Dart.
