Folios 285-286: enclosure with folios 283-284. Captain William Sidney Smith, HMS Antelope, Hoseley Bay. A copy of intelligence he has just received from Helvoet dated 22 April 1803. His correspondent outlines the damage done to the French flotilla by a violent storm: one French frigate, La Libre, driven ashore and another, La Furieuse, damaged in a collision with a Dutch merchant vessel, the transport Providence driven against a pier and losing her rudder, another stranded and a third losing a mast. He thinks the Providence and possibly others will have to go to Rotterdam for repair, and one of the French Commissioners was overheard to say it could take two months to repair the damage.
