Folios 275-276: enclosed with folios 273-274. Captain William Sidney Smith, HMS Antelope, Hoseley Bay, 13 April 1803. He has received information from Helvoet that the Dutch frigate Pallas, with Vice Admiral Hartsinck aboard, has just sailed for the Mediterranean to replace Admiral Jan Willem de Winter. A French schooner is being stationed off the Goree Gat to report on the movements of the English frigates, and the French Commodore has ordered his ships to be ready to flee to Flushing in case of an English attack. Captain Stewart [Captain George Stewart ?]has recently been sounding a new channel across the Goree Flats, and this may have encouraged fears of an attack. Six hundred of the French troops have been landed that day and more may be sent to Goree and the Fortress of Briel [?].
