Folios 198-199: Alexander Skene, HMS Lapwing, Shields. Reports he has impressed William Readhead [George Readhead] from on shore, encloses an affidavit concerning him.
Folios 200-201: enclosure with folios 198-199. Affidavit sworn by William Readhead [William Reedhead] and William Morris, North Shields, before Justice of the Peace Richard Wallis, 4 April 1803. Both swear that they have known George Readhead for some years and that after serving his indentures to Robert Stephenson, boatbuilder, he worked as a ship's Carpenter at Blyth and aboard the Feronia of Newcastle on voyages to Dantzick [Danzig] and Hambro [Hamburg] before coming ashore to work as a carpenter and boatbuilder.
