Folios 169-170: Alexander Skene, HMS Lapwing, [Shields]. Reports that HMS Carysfort sailed the previous day. Asks for press warrants to be sent to him, although he has already sent the ship's boats out last night on the impress service and collected 27 seamen. Encloses a letter just received from the Major of Newcastle about keelmen, he will await instructions. He has asked for Custom House cutters to carry the impressed men to Yarmouth or the Nore.
Folios 171-172: enclosure with folios 169-170. Letter from Thomas Clennell, Mayor, the Guildhall [Newcastle] to Captain Alexander Skene, HMS Lapwing. Asks him to refrain from impressing the keelmen working in Newcastle, he has written to the Admiralty asking for a general protection for them.
