Folios 162-163: John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, Greenock. Acknowledges the Admiralty's letter, encloses [not present] his letter on the same subject of 7 December. Reports that John Simpson was impressed between Greenock and Port Glasgow by the Gang under the direction of Regulating Captain Sandford Tatham, and although documents have been produced to show he is an American citizen, he wished to volunteer for the Navy and was sent to Admiral Sir John Colpoys on 28 November.
