Folios 146-147: John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, Greenock. He has investigated the case of William Quince, said to be American, and encloses several documents relating to his case. It appears Quince left America with no documents, serving as steward to Master of the Ulysses. When he was impressed he was working aboard an English brig in Greenock. Will send another 25 Supernumeraries to Plymouth as soon as Regulating Captain Sanford Tatham can obtain a cutter, but will keep Quince aboard the Tourterelle.
Folios 148-149: enclosure with folios 146-147. Letter from James J Murray, American Consul, Glasgow, to Commander John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, 24 November 1803. Asks for the discharge of William Quince and John Simpson, American citizens who have been impressed. Quince was carrying a protection signed by Mr Murray at the time of his seizure.
Folios 150-151: [Filed as an enclosure with folio 146 despite the discrepancy in dates]. Letter from James J Murray, American Consul, Glasgow, to Commander John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, 24 January 1804. Asks whether William Quince is still aboard the Tourterelle, or if not where he has been sent.

Letter from James J Murray, American Consul, Glasgow, to Commander John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, 26 January 1804. Asks if Commander Simpson can delay sending William Quince to Admiral Sir John Colpoys until he can obtain a an order from his discharge from London.

Letter from James J Murray, American Consul, Glasgow, to Commander John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, 3 February 1804. Asks again that William Quince not be sent to Plymouth for another week, while he awaits an order for his discharge.
Folios 156-157: [Filed as an enclosure with folio 146 despite the discrepancy in dates]. Letter from James J Murray, Consul of the United States, Glasgow to Commander John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, 11 February 1804. Still has not received an order for William Quince's discharge. Asks that Commander Simpson lets him know if Quince is sent to Admiral Sir John Colpoys at Plymouth and the name of the vessel in which he is sent.
