Folio 135: Commander John Simpson, HMS Tourterelle, Greenock. Reports the arrival of the armed merchant ship Lord Forbes, has directed her master to anchor close to the Tourterelle to aid in the defence of Greenock and Glasgow. She is a frigate-built ship and pierced for 30 guns, with a complement of 35. Will send the newly-raised men to Plymouth as soon as Regulating Captain Sandford Tatham can get one of the Revenue Cutters to call at Greenock.
Folio 136: Copy off orders signed by James Coggan, East India House, to the Master of the armed merchant ship Lord Forbes, 21 October 1803. Directs him to go to Glasgow and place himself under the orders of the senior Navy officer there.
