Folios 234-235: James Slade, St Thomas' Street, Portsmouth. Reminds the Admiralty that some months ago he wrote on behalf of the crew of HMS L'Espiegle, which he now commands, seeking the distribution of prize money from captures the ship made when under the command of the late Commander Bartholomew Roberts. Mentions two vessels captured in 1795, the Cannil Broom and the Tappaneesch [?], the prize money for which was taken from the Admiralty Court by Daniel Roberts in 1801. Encloses a letter from Mr Roberts to the Admiralty and another he has just received from James Heseltine at Doctors Common.
Folios 236-237: enclosed with folios 234-235. Letter from James Heseltine, Doctors Common, to Commander James Slade, HMS L'Espiegle, 10 June 1802. Confirms that there are currently no cases before the Admiralty Court in respect of vessels captured by Commander Bartholomew Roberts in HMS L'Espiegle.
Folios 238-239: enclosed with folios 234-235. Letter from Daniel Roberts, [Assistant Commissary General ?], Brighton, to the Admiralty, 7 January 1802. Reports that more than 30 vessels captured by HMS L'Espiegle under Commander Bartholomew Roberts have been brought into port, including the Tappaneesch and the Cannil Boom, and sent to the Admiralty Court at Doctors Common. Hopes soon to complete the accounts and be in a position to distribute prize money.
