The Learning and Skills Act 2000 was an Act of Parliament introduced by the Labour Government. It made changes in the funding and administration of further education and of work-based learning and apprenticeships for young people. These changes included the establishment of the Learning Skills Council, creation of academies and provision for the appointment of governers in the education sector.
