Description

Folios 234-235: James Nicoll Morris, HMS Colossus, Spithead. On the orders of Vice Admiral Collingwood, reports the arrival of his ship and sends the enclosed reports, being in pain from his wounds and unable to reach the deck without a crutch, asks for leave of absence to recover his health.

Folios 236-237: enclosure with folios 234-235. Copy dated 1st November 1805 of Orders from Vice Admiral Lord Cuthbert Collingwood, Gibraltar Bay to James Nicoll Morris, HMS Colossus. Put yourself under the command of Captain Harvey of HMS Temeraire and proceed in company with him to England and then to proceed to Portsmouth, and send a journal of your proceedings, the ship's defects and a report of the number of French prisoners on board, on entering the Channel you are to observe quarantine on entering the Channel.
