Folios 259-260: Joseph Short, Lynn. Enclosing a statement of what took place on 22 April at Castle Donnington and Lockington Hall. Mr Story had promised to write also. He seemed anxious to apprehend Abbot. The constable who was with the midshipman most certainly knew many of the people in the aggressors in both affairs. It is pretty certain that Luke Abbot belonged to HMS Scipio and not the America. He had lately come to the receipt of £1000 - £1500 which he believes is used to bribe those trying to apprehend him.
Folios 261-262: enclosure with folios 259-260. Statement of the circumstances attending his journey to Lockington with the proceedings at that place. Further details follow.
