Folios 257-258: Joseph Short, Leicester. Whilst at Lockington making a deposition that he believes that Luke Abbot is a deserter, the Revd Storey sent a constable with a midshipman and one of the gang to Castle Dennington to apprehend him. They were opposed by a mob of between 300-400 people , several armed with sticks and stones. He thought it advisable to desist and notify the Admiralty that they had been warned before of their behaviour. Mr Storey will write to explain further.
