Folios 347-348: Joseph Short, [Regulating Officer], Lynn [Kings Lynn]. Covering letter for the weekly return [not present] also a letter he received from Captain Daniel Woodriff Superintendent of Norman Cross Prison and requests he be ordered to Norman Cross to regulate them, should there be more men of the description mentioned in his letter, also if he is to promise them the Kings Bounty.
Folios 349-350: enclosure with folios 347-348. Letter dated 3 November 1798 by Daniel Woodriff, Norman Cross, to Joseph Short, [Regulating Officer], Lynn [Kings Lynn]. States that having informed the Transport Board that there were some Dutch prisoners here who were neutral subjects with desires to serve in HMS Navy. The board has informed him"that the neutral seamen who have applied to you for leave to enter into the Navy may be permitted to do so, provided Captain Short at Lynn will receive them". Requests to know if he is able to receive them, about forty in number.
