Folios 323-324: Joseph Short, [Regulating Officer], Wells [Wells-next-the-Sea]. He informs that Lieutenant Seymors [John Seymour] has impressed Edward Edward Master of the Acorn an Oyster Smack of this place of Eleven Tons but neither himself or Owner has an apprentice, which is the case with all Masters & Owners of this class of Vessel in this Port; he has also impressed John Smith Owner and Master of a Small Boat of between Five and Six Tons, having got the registered yesterday merely as a protection under these circumstances He begs you will be pleased to give direction whether he is to keep them or no.
