Folios 319-320: Joseph Short, [Regulating Officer], Lynn [Kings Lynn]. Covering letter for the enclosed demand for damages for impressing John Smith Master and Owner of a small boat of Wells [Wells-near-the-Sea], the same man that he acquainted their Lordships of Lieutenant Seymors [John Seymour] having imprested in his letter from Wells [Wells-near-the-Sea] on 24 June 1798 and received their directions to detain him for HM Service in yours dated 26 June 1798 as also to discharge him in your letter of the 6 July 1798 which was done. On receiving then enclosed he requested William Dalton to call on the Attorney to stop the proceedings until he has acquainted their Lordships therewith, as also to know the amount of damages which he lays at fifteen pounds. He also solicits for them to take into consideration his letter of the 1 July 1798 requesting to be reimbursed the bill it contained.
